Rules
1.TITLE
The Society shall be known as the Electrical Industries Golfing Society of Ireland with membership to be confined to members of the Electrical Industry with the prime purpose of promoting good will and sociability among its members.

These Rules were approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting held in Limerick Golf Club on the 28th November 1979
and amended at A.G.M. at Limerick Golf Club on 10th December 1983
and amended at A.G.M. at Newlands Golf Club on 9th December 1988,
and at the E.G.M. held in the Royal Dublin Golf Club on the 7th of November 1994
and at the E.G.M. held in Royal Dublin Golf Club on the 6th November 1995
and at the A.G.M. held in Royal Dublin Golf Club on the 11th November 1996
and at the A.G.M. held at St. Margarets Golf Club on the 8th of November 2001 and at the A.G.M. held at St. Margarets Golf Club on the 13th October 2004
and at the A.G.M. held at Corrstown Golf Club on the 25th October 2007
and at the E.G.M. held at the K Club Golf Club on the 11th of April 2008
and at the E.G.M. held at Corrstown Colf Club on the 31st March 2017.

2.MEMBERSHIP
- (a) The Society shall consist of Honorary Life Members, Ordinary Members and Social or Pavilion Members.
- (b) Ordinary Members and Social / Pavilion Members will be elected by the Executive Committee at intervals which the executive committee deem fit and taking consideration of vacancies etc., and only on receipt of a properly completed proposal or Application Form and current annual subscription. The executive Committee may refuse an Application for membership without having to show cause for same.
- (c) Honorary Life Members shall be elected only at the A.G.M.. Nominations for Honorary Life Members duly proposed and seconded, must be with the Secretary in writing before the end of September, and each nomination must have the approval of the outgoing committee before it can be put to the A.G.M. It will then require a two-thirds majority of those eligible to vote at the A.G.M. The outgoing Committee shall have the right to sponsor such nominations.
- (d) Society members are expected to be a member of a Golf Club. In the event that a member is not a member of a Golf Club, he shall play off a handicap of 18 (subject to downward review by the committee).
- (e) The Annual subscription must be paid by a member prior to playing his first outing of the year.
- (f) The rules of host clubs including dress code shall be strictly observed by all members (and guests) and conduct shall be of the highest order at all times.
3.PRESIDENT
- (a) The President of the E.I.F.I. shall become President of the E.I.G.S.I.
- (b) The President may, at his own discretion, attend meetings of the Executive Committee.
4. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
- (a) The Executive Committee shall consist of President, Captain, Vice Captain, Honorary Secretary, Assistant Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, and Ex Officio Officer and up to six Ordinary Members.
- (b) Five Members shall form a quorum at any committee meeting.
- (c) The Captain shall have the right to preside over the A.G.M. and committee meetings at which he is present.
- (d) The decisions of the Executive Committee on all matters shall be final.
- (e) The Committee shall have the right to co-opt a member at any time.
5. ANNUAL: GENERAL MEETING
- (a) The A.G.M. shall be held each year in the month of October or as near that month as is possible and practicable.
- (b) The date and venue of the A.G.M. shall be decided by the outgoing Executive Committee. All members shall be notified of this, at least 7 days beforehand.
- (c) The Captain of the day nominates his selection for Vice Captain for ratification by the committee, otherwise the outgoing committee shall have the right to nominate a Vice Captain. .
- (d) Nominations and seconder’s for the Officers positions and ordinary Members must be with the Honorary Secretary in writing before the end of September.
- (e) Motions relating to changes in rules (which would require a two third majority) must be with the Secretary in writing before the end of September. Motions relating to other matters will be accepted from the floor of the A.G.M. The outgoing Committee will have the right to sponsor motions.
- (f) Decisions of the Executive Committee may be amended or deleted by simple majority of those present and eligible to vote at the A.G.M. Motions relating to such matters must be with the Secretary before the end of September.
- (g) Only fully paid up members may attend and vote at an A.G.M.
6. EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
- (a) An E.G.M. may be convened by the Executive Committee or by 25 Ordinary Members who petition the Secretary in writing affixing signatures and purpose for such a meeting.
- (b) The basic rules of the A.G.M. shall also apply in relation to an E.G.M. but no matters shall be discussed other than those proposed in the petition.
- (c) Only fully paid up members may attend and vote at the A.G.M. or E.G.M.
7. ACCOUNTS AND FINANCE
- (a) The Society’s Accounts shall be handled by the Treasurer, who shall report as required to the Executive Committee.
- (b) The Annual Accounts shall be circulated to all members present at the A.G.M.
8. COMPETITION AND SPONSORS
- (a) The Rules of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club St. Andrews are binding on all members of the Society and on all Sponsors.
- (b) Guidelines for Sponsors shall be laid down by the Executive Committee as they deem necessary.
- (c) Members may bring guests subject to time sheet restrictions laid down by the committee for each individual outing.. The Member is responsible for his guests.
- (d) All decisions relating to competitions, winners etc., made by the Officers on the day shall be final, but these may be appealed in writing to the Committee with the appeal, setting out clearly, the reason for same.
- (e) Prizes will be presented on the same evening as the outings or by arrangement and neither the Society nor the Sponsors will be responsible for prizes which are not collected at the prize giving.
- (f) To qualify for the Captains Prize or Presidents Prize, a member must play in at least two singles outings prior to the week-end.
